The HowardMethod℠ , also known as Myofascial Bio Rejuvenation (MBR), uses highly effective decompression techniques and can often bring instant and long-lasting relief from pain and restriction. HowardMethod℠ often reduces external puffiness and inflammation, along with increased energy, flexibility, and strength — regardless of age, health, or fitness level.

"Massage therapists should learn Howard's MBR method because of the amount of good it is going to give their clients. Above and beyond anything, I just love helping people relieve chronic pain and this has been probably the greatest tool in my toolbox toward that purpose."
- Nick Palumbo, LMT

"A Total Game-Changer"
Tom A. found Howard’s MBR method to be both simple in its design and effective in its execution. “...the success rate is good. When I work on someone with pain, I cannot guarantee that I can take care of the pain. But I tell them that my success is that nine out of ten will get significant improvement after two to three sessions."
- Tom Augustyniak, LMT

"MBR Is For Healing"
"MBR is for healing, for actually getting in way deeper than just the tissue. The root of the problems that you have physically: working inside, outside-in. It [MBR] makes you feel longer, leaner, taller; you can breathe deeper, your attitude changes, you are nicer: he [Howard Mermelstein] makes you feel like you have muscles you never even knew existed before. He makes you think about anatomy in a different way."
- Laurie Searle, LMT

"MBR Is a Paradigm Shift"
“The MBR method is fundamentally different from other massage modalities; it is a paradigm shift… I have an abdominal scar that is over twenty years old and I have had scar work done before, and the scar tissue work that I had done here [Howard’s MBR method] changed the way I was breathing and released my diaphragm that I didn't even know was constricted.”
- Nick Palumbo, LMT
Hi, I’m Howard - the Man Behind the Howard Method!
After years of receiving connective tissue massage to treat my own respiratory condition, I realized that when you pull the fascia and muscle away from the bone (vs pushing into it), it allows the body to achieve homeostasis and is remarkably effective. I developed a new modality around this concept that I called Myofascial Bio Rejuvenation (MBR) or the HowardMethod℠.
The Howard Method℠ triggers the parasympathetic nervous system to provide lasting change — often, after a single session. It’s for this very reason that New York’s top cycling instructors, professional athletes, celebrities, executives, dancers, and other massage therapists rely on MBR to maintain their peak performance.
As an approved provider of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), I was a staff instructor at the Swedish Institute for several years and have taught both private courses as well as public workshops at massage schools around the country. Buoyed by the overwhelming response to the Postural Corrective Training curriculum I created, I've turned my primary focus to developing and teaching the Howard MBR Method℠.
